Irrespective of the method you choose to establish yourself on the internet, everything starts with a domain. A commendable domain name lays the foundation for a strong beginning. Yet, what exactly defines a good domain and how we can leverage on them?
How do I view domain?
To me, a domain holds vast potential, much like virtual real estate, embodying essential business qualities such as:
Identity: Like a physical store's location, a domain establishes online identity and impact. A memorable domain leaves a strong first impression, akin to owning a store on the 5th Street (New York) - the most expensive “street” in the world.
Trust: Reputable top-level domains like .com, .net, and .xyz elevate a business's online credibility. You can get a short domain name on obscure TLDs like gold.zk, but it's similar to owning lakeside property in an unfamiliar forest.
Monetization: You can park a domain, start a passive income blog, or flip it for future growth. I'm intrigued by building an investment portfolio focused on domains.
Protection: Secures online presence and intellectual property. Owning domains like tesla.com or ai.xyz could place you in a valuable position.
Global Reach: Establishes a connection with a global audience, surpassing the potential liquidity of traditional real estate.
What constitutes a good domain?
In my opinion, a quality domain should either be easily memorable (organically) or possess a robust backlink profile (artificially), or ideally, exhibit both traits.
Organically good domains are short/dictionary word/easy to spell/trendy/popular tld/brandable. Some examples include planyourwedding.net, fitness.org, vr.xyz, solidapp.com, dating.co …
Artificially/Man-made good domains are often not memorable but should have strong ability to rank on search engines (i.e., high DR). Some examples are redib.org, rubberducky.org, wxccp78.com, bdcdreams.com …

It would be great to put your safe bet on memorable domains with strong ratings like ayanatherapy.com (DR: 54) and demandsafeschools.org (DR: 45). However, to find those domains are not easy!
How to find a good domain?
The downside is that most valuable domains are often owned by domainers. So, it's wise to manage your expectations before diving in.
Here are my top 5 tips to smoothen your learning curve:
Trust your intuition: What's the reason behind the high prices of some “weak” domains? While tools help find data-backed domains, if you sense a domain's potential, seize it. Others might feel the same way.
Use tools like Spamzilla or Expireddomain to find dropped domains (read my guide). Not all domain owners are experts, so valuable opportunities might slip away. Act fast to capture them!
As strong organic domains are scarce, prioritize seeking high DR rating names, especially from less-known TLDs (read this).
Join auctions and marketplaces such as Godaddy, Namecheap, Ebay … While you might pay a premium, these domains usually offer superior quality and are excellent for investment purposes.
Always conduct thorough analysis. Useful tools include GoDaddy Appraisal, Estibot, and PC.domains
Like real estate, we recognize the potential for domain’s value appreciation. Yet, unearthing such gems demands skill, investment, or time. In this post, I'll reveal a method to initiate your domain venture.
How to build your 1-Million-Dollar domain portfolio today?

To further minimize risk, our aim is to make a prudent investment by capitalizing on domains that have both organic and artificial strength.
First, let's address natural strength. My recommendation is to target .xyz domains for valuable two-word names, as this is harder to achieve with other popular TLDs like .com or .net.
Why .XYZ? It might surprise many that .xyz has consistently held the record for the second most registered domains (after .com) over the past few years (Source). And domain appraisal tools leveraged on data such as PC.domains even prefer .xyz to .com for a great deal of domains.
After acquiring potent domains with organic strength, we now boost their artificial power by launching a valuable website. This will attract backlinks and yield passive income through affiliate marketing or banner ads. The easy method to achieve this is by utilizing good AI writing tools like WriteAny.
Here's a plan to build your first million-dollar domain portfolio:
Acquire 100 decent .xyz domains
Setup web hosting, Wordpress, and theme (recommend: GeneratePress)
Use WriteAny to directly upload 70 relevant articles (50 generic blog and 20 Amazon round up article) per website
(Optional) Add a press release to build authority backlinks
Let them age and flip the domains or keep them for passive income
The whole process to set up 1 site takes less than 1 hour of your time. Now, let’s explore the math behind:
Unit cost per website: $8/year (domain) + $9/year (shared hosting) + $49/one time (WriteAny) = $66/year or $100/3 years
Typically, passive income websites sell for 36 times their monthly revenue. With a website earning $300 monthly ($10/day), flipping the domain for 40 times that on platforms like Flippa could generate $12,000 per site, thanks to the domain's organic strength.
With 100 domains like that, your portfolio could be worth $1.2 million or more with groupings.
Tip: Try to invest time initially to get the best domains possible. This substantially enhances your portfolio's value and streamlines the process of selling websites.

P.s.: I acknowledge that not everyone may favor .xyz, and I want to clarify that I am not associated with them in any manner. Nonetheless, I firmly believe that newer top-level domains (TLDs) such as .xyz offer excellent branding opportunities that might not be available in .com or .net. Our goal here is not merely to sell a domain but to establish and promote a thriving online business.
