10 Weeks On Substack

It feels much longer than I thought but I find joy

Great! I realized I left my Macbook charger at home today. So, it looks like today will be more about learning than working.

Over the first half of the year, I've found myself pulled in various directions just trying to make things work, especially because of some setbacks I faced last year. I must admit, I didn't give as much attention as I should have to pursuing the digital nomad lifestyle that I was so inspired to create after reading the book 'Company of One' at the beginning of 2023.

However, recent wakeup calls have been eye-opening and have prompted me to reevaluate my priorities and to live my days as my last days.

Thoughts

In the last 10 weeks, I've been writing quick Substack posts during lunch breaks, mostly about my current projects. Sometimes, I've thought about stopping because Substack doesn't help my stuff show up on search engines. But it feels comfy for an introvert like me to talk freely here.

Going forward, I'll keep these short posts coming here, and do more detailed guides on my main sites.

• PlanTrips has successfully created more than 3,000 travel itineraries and has gained a significant amount of traffic. Ensuring sustainable monetization is crucial for the next stage:

  • In addition to affiliate links for booking experiences in various destinations, a potential strategy could involve incorporating affiliate links to products in the 'Comprehensive Packing List' section.

  • As our traffic grows, we could also consider introducing banner ads once we reach a monthly session count of 50,000.

Link Building:

With a focus on niche site development, I'm planning to invest more in two premium domains (DR55 and DR70) from my domain collection. These domains will be integrated into my upcoming link-building service.

Google Adsense:

I spoke to a fellow blogger last week on Facebook. He disagreed with my post about Google approval, saying he only got it after over 150 articles written by humans.

As I'm fond of challenges, I told him that I would create a niche site from the ground up in a highly competitive field and secure Google approval within a week, using under 30 posts following the tactics mentioned in my previous post. And I got it today, after a mere 5 days.

Some basic facts:

• I impulsively acquired petswat.com a month ago following a chat with my wife about dressing up our Dachshund in SWAT clothes and ignored everything about DA, DR, Spam Score … 🤦 As my wife loves pet shops, we intended to open a pet SWAT clothing shop there. What a … phenomenal idea!

• I set the site up this Monday (with total of 28 AI-written articles) and apply for Google Adsense on Tuesday

• As I use a ‘Republish Old Post’ plugin to automatically freshen the homepage, the posting dates are manually scheduled initially.
